Holiday Gift Recommendation #1
New Natural History Book!
"The Story of My Heart," by Richard Jefferies
As Rediscovered by Brooke and Terry Tempest Williams
In a used book store in Maine, authors/naturalists Brooke and Terry Tempest Williams came across
a rare copy of The Story of My Heart, an autobiography of 19th-century nature writer, Richard Jefferies. Jefferies, who developed his understanding of "a soul-life" while wandering the wild countryside of Wilshire, England, struck a chord with them and they decided they wanted to make the little volume of elegant prose available to the world once again. Included in the book are commentaries by the Williamses, whose own relationship is enriched as they study Jeffries and explore the intrinsic human need for wildness.
