A Day on the Green River, Rafting Utah's Desolation Canyon

A Day of river rafting the Green River through Desolation Canyon, Utah's Best Family River Trip A downriver view of Desolation Canyon
18 Foot Raft
Our 18-foot row rafts accomodate 4-5 passengers plus the guide who rows the boat.
Inflatable Kayaks
Inflatable kayaks or "duckies" are a great option in Desolation Canyon. Rapids that are mild in a row boat suddenly become wild in an inflatable kayak. Test your skill through Desolation's whitewater while others in your group relax on a guided raft.
Paddleraft
Our paddle rafts hold 6-8 passengers and are captained by a liscensed guide at all times. Paddle rafts are the perfect option for those who want to be involved in navigating the rapids while getting a great workout.
Camp
Camp is generally set up on sandy beaches, where there is plenty of room to spread out. Desolation Canyon is famous for its white sand beaches, shaded by beautiful cottonwood trees.
Bathroom
A roomy yellow tent is set-up to enclose our toilet. It allows privacy as well as a place to change your clothes.
Toilet
Our specially designed toilet makes the fear of using camp toilets go away. It is the most sanitary and clean toilet ever to be used on an outdoor expedition. It has a fly proof lid and utilizes a special chemical along with specially designed plastic bags that allow it to be set-up clean everyday. It has the ability to hold solid waste as well as urine. Along with the toilet, Lysol and toilet paper are always located inside the tent.
Handwash
Hand-washing is critical on river trips. We do our best to make sure everyone washes their hands before meals, and after trips to the bathroom. Our hand-washing devices use soap, treated water, and a bulb you push with your feet to give yourself running water to wash your hands in.
Kitchen
Our kitchen is usually the center of everything. You will notice it is always set-up neat, clean, and orderly. Our crew all have backcountry food handler permits, and you will not be disappointed with our fabulous dutch oven dinners.
Cleanup
In order to wash up all of our plates, utensils, and cooking gear, we use a four bucket dish washing system: cool soap, hot soap, hot rinse, clorox rinse. The items are scrubbed in the first two buckets, rinsed in the third, and sanitized in the last bucket. Finally the items are left to air dry on a drying rack.
Hiking
To many people the off-river hiking is as spectacular as the river corridor itself. We specialize in off-river hiking on all of our river expeditions. We are certain you will see places on our expeditions most river travelers miss.
Rapids
Desolation Canyon has more than 60 fun rapids.
Dry bags
Upon arrival, each participant will be given a large water-proof bag for clothing and personal items. Another water-proof bag will contain your provided sleeping bag, air-foam pad, and a large plastic ground tarp. Our water-proof bags are 30 inches high and have a diameter of 14 inches.
Ammo Cans
Each participant will also receive an ammo can. It is always readily accesible during the day and is the best place to keep sunscreen, cameras, notebooks, etc.
Tent
We supply tents to everyone in the case of inclement weather. When the weather is good we feel that everyone should experience the magnificent stars of the Colorado Plateau. If you don't feel comfortable sleeping out we offer tent rentals. We use Kelty Vortex II tents.
Sleeping Bags
Our sleep kit includes a fresly laundered sleeping bag. Our newest sleeping bags are made in the USA by Wiggy Inc. Wiggy also makes sleeping bags for the US Airforce.
Air Foam Pads
Our sleep kits also include a foam pad. They are quite comfortable. They are made by Jack's Plastic Welding in Aztec, New Mexico.
Life Jacket
Life jackets are all Coast Guard approved. They have ample flotation and are of the highest quality.
